Not a bad game. Similar to the original with many more user options. Not the most straight forward layout and menu options though. Found the equiptment and hardware options to be a little difficult to navigate and follow…

Gameplay
The ways to get from island to island have been tweaked. A ferry runs from Portland Island to Staunton Island, and the tunnel that connects the islands in Grand Theft Auto III has not yet been completed - only the section of the tunnel that runs from north Shoreside Vale to south Shoreside Vale is open. The Callahan Bridge (the bridge that was blown up at the beginning of Grand Theft Auto III) has also not been fully constructed yet. Only after the mission "Driving Mr. Leone", which occurs at around 19% completion, can the player actually traverse the bridge as its construction progresses.
In addition, motorcycles were previously permitted in the city. The official Liberty City Stories website reveals that motorbikes were banned by the turn of the 21st century, due to a public ordinance supported by the Maibatsu Corporation (which marketed the over-sized Maibatsu Monstrosity in GTA III) in order to promote the use of automobiles in the city. Though airplanes and helicopters can be found in Vice City, usable airplanes and helicopters cannot be found in Liberty City Stories, although a glitch to fly a helicopter has been discovered.
Multiplayer
The PSP version of Liberty City Stories has a multiplayer mode, for up to six players through WiFi ad-hoc mode (same area). The game features seven modes of wireless multiplayer gaming, in which various pedestrian and character models from the single player mode avatars. Rockstar decided not to include these modes in the PlayStation 2 version.
Synopsis
Setting
The game is set in Liberty City (the same city featured in Grand Theft Auto III). However, it takes place in 1998, three years before the events of GTA III. Toni Cipriani is fresh back in the city after lying low for several years, having killed a made man as a favor for Don Salvatore Leone. The grateful Salvatore puts him straight back to work. During the course of Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories, players can accept a variety of missions from many people, including Salvatore, Salvatore's wife Maria, JD O'Toole, wise guy Vincenzo "Vinnie" Cilli, and even Toni's own mother. Players may also accept missions from the "Avenging Angels", similar to the Guardian Angels, earning special vehicles and wardrobe rewards.
The game features a club named "Paulie's Revue Bar" which is later taken over by the Leone family and renamed "Sex Club Seven". In the PSP version, as in all subsequent versions than the beta version you cannot go in the club. Although Liberty City Stories is set in 1998, the introduction DVD for Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas which takes place in 1992, shows the club as "Sex Club Seven". This is likely a continuity error as Liberty City Stories was not in development when the San Andreas introduction DVD was released. San Andreas' events lead up Grand Theft Auto III where the club was also named "Sex Club Seven".

Plot
The Story is set around Antonio "Toni" Cipriani who returns to Liberty City after a four year hiding after killing a made man. Toni is introduced to Vincenzo Cilli, Salvatore Leone's current Caporegime, and Vincenzo is tasked to give Toni some work. Toni dislikes Vincenzo, as Vincenzo acts like his "daddy" and keeps pushing him around.
Portland Storyline
The Portland Island Storyline is set around using JD O' Toole to weaken the Sindacco Family's influence in Portland, which includes destroying their strip club the Doll's House, stopping them from destroying the Leone Gaming House, and preventing them from killing Salvatore at a car crusher, who takes over the Red Light District and JD's Club. (Actually owned by Sindacco Don Paulie Sindacco) after Toni saves him from being crushed. Vincenzo then later betrays Toni after he is sent to pick up a sports car which turns out to be a Police Trap. After losing the police and parking outside Vincenzo's Garage, Toni gets a call from Vincenzo and Toni berates Vincenzo for setting him up, Vincenzo thinks of this setting him up as when he got Toni an apartment and a job. After the call, Toni crushes Vincenzo's Car to teach him never to mess with him again, after the crushing, Toni's Ma calls, and Toni visits her and it ends up with Toni having to prove to his Ma that he is a better son than various other men like a street racer named Sucho, and a prostitute buying deli owner named Giovanni Casa, both of whom Toni kills out of anger for his Ma comparing him to them. But fails to convince her of his loyalty as a son, and Ma sends a hit crew after him. After saving Salvatore from the police outside of JD's Club, Salvatore offers Toni some work, which involves around forcing the Union Boss Jane Hopper to reopen the ferry terminals and docks. When Toni sorts this all out, he gets a call from Salvatore's girlfriend Maria, who tells Toni to come see her. Maria gets Toni and herself into lots of trouble, like gaining the attention of a Portland Biker Gang after killing their leader Wayne after Wayne hits Maria, and robbing shops. Maria needs a drug called a Zap, to save her life, Maria believes the drug is at a Callahan Point Diner, then behind a trash can in Hepburn Heights, then back at her house, but it's actually at Salvatore's Mansion. Toni does a few more jobs for JD, which involves following a Sicilian Caporegime Massimo Torini around Portland who is meeting with the Triads and Diablos, to tell them to ruin the Leones in Portland. Then driving JD to be made in the Leone Family, but it turns out to be a murder, as Mickey Hamfists, Salvatore's Enforcer, shoots JD in the back of the head with a Pistol. Claiming that he was a rat and since he betrayed the Sindacco Family. Salvatore could never trust him, thinking psp 3.02 the same thing would happen to him. Toni takes Mickey home and dumps the car containing a dead JD into the river. Toni gets a call from Vincenzo, who apologizes for being a jerk towards Toni and tells him to go to his warehouse, Toni arrives there, and Vincenzo calls to say that he is on a large tanker near the warehouse. Toni goes to the Tanker, only to discover it to be a trap. Leone Mobsters loyal to just Vincenzo, attack Toni with Chainsaws. Toni slaughters them, then kills a furious Vincenzo in a firefight. Toni flees Vincenzo's Tanker, then receives a call from Mr. Leone, who tells Toni to come back to his mansion. When arriving in Mr. Leone's Office, Toni is told to rescue some Leone Mobsters who have been caught in a violent firefight with the Diablos, a few Leone Wiseguys were killed before Toni arrived. Adding to the Leone Family's woes, the Diablos take control of Hepburn Heights, as seen in GTA III. Cipriani fends off the disturbing Puerto Rican Gangsters and saves the Leone's Red Light District Turf. Salvatore then needs another favor, he can only trust Toni to collect some money from his warehouse in Callahan Point, but the Liberty City Triads blow up the warehouse, which slaughters all Leone Warehouse Guards except Cipriani, now Cipriani must collect the remaining money and murder any Triads that get in his way, then get back to Salvatore's with the money. The final job in Portland involves getting Salvatore to the ferry terminal, and it is revealed the police are waiting for Salvatore there, Cipriani and Leone escape to the almost finished Callahan Bridge where they speed and jump over a ramp (Actually a bit of the Bridge's Road not lowered yet) and escape to a safehouse on Staunton Island, this triggers the Staunton Island Storyline.
Staunton Storyline
After settling in at his new safehouse, Toni receives a call from Salvatore, telling Toni to answer a payphone near the Courthouse. Toni goes to the payphone, answers it, and is told to assassinate Mayor Roger C. Hole, and steal his phone, so Salvatore can see who he has been talking to. After the assassination, Toni finds a letter on his Apartment's table written by Sal, saying that some of his men will arrive to pick up Toni soon. Toni later leaves his apartment and sees Salvatore's men, including Mickey Hamfists, who assassinated JD O' Toole during the Portland Storyline. Now nervous that he might be killed also, he greets Mickey nervously as he drives to the meet location. As it turns out, there is no setup, and Salvatore emerges from behing a wall, telling Toni that he is going to be made, which Toni's Ma has waited for a long time. After the ceremony, Sal, Mickey and the other goons take Toni home, and Salvatore tells Toni's Ma about the ceremony which leads to a proud phone call for Toni. Soon after he meets a man named Donald Love, who has come to the Leones in need of help starting a mayoral campagn in the city. The job is appointed to Toni, who earns Love much popularity, and even appeasing Love's rather vulger lifestyle of necrophelia, by bringing him corpses of those he killed in other jobs. But the public learns of Toni's ties to the Mafia, Donald's ties to Toni, and he loses the election. This left Love bankrupt and bitter against Toni, as he tells him that he blames his loss entirely on him. Toni later goes to confess his sins to a local pastor, who in turn has Toni do the Lord's dirty work. Toni later learns that the pastor is local newspaper reporter Ned Burner, and kills him. (also brings his corpse to Donald Love so he can violate it)
Shoreside Storyline
After completing all Staunton Missions, Toni receives a call from Salvatore, who mentions that he has been arrested and taken into police custody on Shoreside Vale where Toni gets some tasks to do from Salvatore while he's inside. After destroying a tank at a Yakuza weapons compound, he gets a phone call from Donald asking Tony to forgive him and work with him once again, and also gets a call from Toshiko Kasen, Kazuki Kasen's (The Yakuza Boss) wife. When Tony goes to a residence for hobos to meet the now messy Donald Love, Tony forgives Donald and they bring Donald's campaign back to life. After doing a few jobs for Donald, he goes to Toshiko, who wants him to weaken Kazuki's organization before he dies. After weakening the Yakuza, Toni checks on Toshiko, who reveals that Kazuki is coming to kill Toshiko and Toni soon. Toni decides to gun down Kazuki at his residence in Belleville Park (The Staunton Safehouse in GTA 3), after killing Kazuki's guards, Kazuki escapes to the Big Shot Casino in a helicopter, where Toni stabs and kills Kazuki in a sword duel. Toni takes Kazuki's sword to Toshiko, who then commits suicide. After that, Toni visits Donald at his mansion on Shoreside. After a large mob of Colombians try to kill him, Donald then escapes the city by jet. In the final mission, Salvatore refused a truce with the Sicilian Mob, and Sal wanted to visit the mayor about getting his charges dropped, but the Sicilians had already kidnapped him. So Salvatore and Toni go to the docks where they see Massimo Torini drive away with the mayor on a speedboat. Salvatore and Toni give chase, which ends when they all stop on Portland Rock. When the two reach the top, Torini is holding the mayor at gunpoint, and escapes to his helicopter that has just arrived. Toni destroys Torini's helicopter and takes the mayor to Sal's home for a meeting. They then go to Toni's mothers restaurant and Salvatore appoints Toni as his Caporegime and also awards him with $500,000.
Development
As stated in an IGN preview, "Rockstar dropped Renderware in favor of a brand new in-house engine to best utilize the resolution, texture density and particle effects of the PSP". Until the release of Liberty City Stories, RenderWare had been the game engine behind every 3D GTA.
Liberty City Stories used Image Metrics for the game's facial animation.

Radio stations
Main article: Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories soundtrack
Liberty City Stories features ten radio stations, which comprise a mix of both licensed music and tracks created specifically for the game. The ten radio stations are as follows:
Head Radio
Double Cleff FM
K-Jah
Rise FM
Lips 106
Radio Del Mundo
MSX 98
Flashback FM
The Liberty Jam
LCFR
Custom soundtracks
A special feature for the PSP version of the game is the ability to listen to custom soundtracks. Previously, only Grand Theft Auto games on the Xbox and PC were able to implement custom soundtracks. When Liberty City Stories was released, the custom soundtracks option was featured in the "Audio" section of the menu (by pressing Start in gameplay) but did not have any use.
A few days after release of the game, Rockstar placed the application called "Rockstar Custom Tracks v1.0" on the official site under the "Downloads" section. This then gave people the chance to use the custom soundtracks feature. The application is based on Exact Audio Copy.
In the application, songs from a CD are ripped, compressed, and converted to .Wav files that can be read by the game. Rockstar Custom Tracks (RCT) only allows the ripping of songs that are from a store-bought CD. However, fans have found a way to compress and convert MP3 files that are not burned onto CDs. The Custom Tracks are just .Wav files renamed to .gta. RCT can also look up and use the names from the Freedb server if there are no names for the song(s). There must be at least one save file in order for RCT to work. It is thought that this will be used for other games Rockstar will release on the PSP from the name. More details can be found in the PDF in the file downloaded from the official site.
Reception
The game received positive reviews, with a 9.0/10 from IGN. In the United States, the PlayStation 2 version of Liberty City Stories had sold 1 million copies by February 6, 2007; as of December 27, 2007, the PSP version has sold 1.83 million copies and the PS2 version has sold 1.32 million in the United States alone. As of March 26, 2008, Liberty City Stories has sold 8 million copies according to Take-Two Interactive.

I dont follow the NBA but this game is good. It has many minigames that make the game even better.

This is sort of a rare style of game, a dungeon crawler with sci-fi flavors instead of the more traditional swords-and-sorcery feel. It features ad hoc multiplayer support, though I haven’t had a chance to use that yet.* Characters and game states are saved separately, though they are paired in a single file. (I have two characters, and after loading one from either of two files, I am them prompted to load the game state from either file, or start a new game.)

The game provides a fair variety of weapon types to support different play styles, though the “classes” in the game are really the same character over and over, with a few advance points into certain skills. For example, the Tanker starts with a few points into some melee skills, while the Firebug starts with some points into the flamethrower skill. The different “classes” also start with a slightly different point spread on vital statistics, such as strength and dexterity. You cannot be a male character, and no matter what you name yourself, the game will still lead you through the story mode as Aileen Harding.

The controls are straightforward and the graphics are pleasant enough, though there can be some slowdown depending on how many enemies are on the screen at once. The music is unobtrusive, and the sound effects are fitting. The voice acting is lifeless and overwrought, though the cinemas have an interesting aesthetic, sort of cardboard cutout painting animations. The story is unremarkable and fails to surprise or engage.

For what it is, a Diablo clone with sci-fi trimmings, it’s a decent game. The price is right, and the gameplay can be picked up or put down without a lot of investment. If you can’t play it for a few months for some reason, but then come back and don’t remember what was happening in the story, it’s not going to really affect your game experience much.

    * Update: I played around with the ad hoc multiplayer mode recently. It supports 2-4 players, though I only played with one other person. You can enter the game at any time, but you will only be able to watch the other player until they run over a checkpoint, at which time you appear and can assume control of your own character. You must remain within a certain distance of each other, i.e., if you run to NW and your teammate runs SE, before long, you’ll both stop and be unable to proceed. You can also duplicate items by saving in one game, but not the other, then exiting and repeating the process. So if you find a really great helmet, for example, you can save your game, then give it away, then quit without saving, and restart or rejoin the game to find your killer gear is still… your killer gear.

Your multiplayer game save is separate from your single player game save, which itself is separate from your character save, as mentioned earlier. This means that if you get to, say, level 28 of the story in single player mode, then hook up with a buddy to play around in multiplayer, you will have to start a new multiplayer game, which would put you back to the first chapter of the story.

You could get around this by hosting a multiplayer game every time you played alone, but you would be draining your battery more quickly (I don’t know how much more quickly) by leaving the WLAN switch on. On the other hand, you might consider just starting over with a new character and having your friend(s) do the same, since, at some undocumented point, if your levels are too different, the lower level character(s) will not get any experience for their efforts.

Some of these aspects of the multiplayer feature, along with the thin-to-nonexistent documentation, makes it feel more like an afterthought than a primary consideration.

In a way, this is a typical dungeon crawl – start a level, kill everything, pick up loot. The difference is that you are on an alien-filled spaceship and your only companion is an indestructible floating robot that can shoot the creatures and (depending on what attachments you put on it) shoot them better, heal you or recharge your shield batteries. It can also destroy loot you don’t want and manufacture stuff you do. (To replace the fact you can’t go to the store to sell off stuff and buy more.)

There are 5 classes to choose from – 3 ranged (explosives, lasers, or fire) and 2 melee. All classes can wear basic armor and use basic melee skills. As you level up, you can choose to broaden your armor, melee, or ranged skills; self-heal or self-charge your batteries; increase your carrying capacity; or build your resistance to the 4 types of damage (fire, electricity, infection, or radiation). You receive 1 skill point per level, but as you get more points in a skill, the cost to raise that skill becomes higher, meaning you may need to save your skill points from level to level. You also receive 2 points per level to put into strength (increases melee damage and carrying capacity), dexterity (increases movement rate), accuracy (increases chance of critical hits and critical multiplier), and endurance (raises hit points as well as resistance to damage).

While most of the missions are hack-and-slash (a few timed), the layout of the floors vary, as do the monsters you meet. Add in a nice background story and this game will keep you playing well past your bedtime.
    ———————–

Edit: I admit, I had not finished the game when I wrote the above review. The early part of the game is great, but once you get towards the end, it becomes very annoying. Ammo becomes a major issue, but there is no way to conserve ammo. (You can only produce so much before production goes into a “cooldown.”) If you die, the game restarts at the last save point, meaning you have to fight the same monsters over and over in the hopes of beating them. (There is no option to go back to the checkpoint – minus ammo and healing spent – but with all killed monsters dead.)

I tried to get through the game, honest. But in the end, it was too frustrating.

Alien Syndrome PSP is one of the better titles for the platform, but only if you don’t mind a game with a bit of tedium and repetitiveness.

I was expecting something like the remake on the Sega Arcade Classics disc for the PS2 (an excellent game in its own right) but this is a totally new game with only a few tie-ins with the original arcade version. You only see the worm creatures a few times, for example; most of the aliens and weapons are entirely new designs.

It strongly reminds me of Diablo in terms of overall design, though more complex and a lot more interesting. Gameplay is fast, smooth, and reasonably fun. Levels load quickly and it doesn’t suffer from the typical PSP control issues.

I found the background story rather predictable, and much of the voice acting is not up to par–some places it’s quite good, others it’s laughably awful. And many times the dialog gets chopped off early, which just adds to the silliness. (The movies can be turned off, though.)

The first time I played it took me about 12 hours to finish, but I was exploring every area and taking lots of time to earn EXP. In most areas the monsters will only respawn a certain number of times so it’s possible to clean out every area, but it’s usually not necessary to do so to get through the level. I’d say an average player will need 4-5 hours.to get through all the levels.

Hard and Expert levels are challenging and I think it has a lot of replay value. You can create multiple starting characters and build them up, or just focus on maxing out one character. And levels and characters are loaded separately; the loaded level’s difficulty and your character’s abilities/equipment come from the loaded character. A very nice feature.

Recommended? While I’ve found there’s enough variety to hold my interest for multiple plays, the game was meant to feel like “Is this ever going to end?” Some gamers will find that appealing, others will want something which plays more quickly and with more variety.

I hesitated for months around buying this game due to all the marginal printed reviews. However, I finally read enough to decide that it sounded like the type of game I’d like, being a former Magic The Gathering player, as well as enjoying other collectible card games.

I’m really glad I tried this game! I loved this game; I sell nearly every game after I’m done with it, but have not yet been able to part with this one as I still go back to play it.

If you like collectible card games like Magic, Yu-Gi-Oh or the like, I’d highly recommend Neverland Card Battles.

You start with a base set of cards, build a deck, and battle it out with opponents. Win or lose, you gain cards to improve your deck. Instead of playing resource cards, you move yourself and your creatures around to gain land, and that land allows you to play more cards and also pays for cards currently in play.

There’s a fair amount of strategy in taking land and using creatures to hold that land, block the opponent, etc.

There’s also the metagame of deck building. The game allows you to save 3 different deck designs; a great touch as you’ll likely have at least 2 decks to use depending on who you’re playing and where you’re playing.

There are some issues with cards; a few are broken in power. But if the few broken cards bother you, you can choose not to play with them in your decks.

Overall, I loved this game, being a fan of collectible card games and the metagame of deck building. Whether or not you enjoy that style of game will determine whether it’s worthwhile buying Neverland Card Battles.

    Nevrland Card Battles.

I seen this game earlyer and didn’t pay attention to it. I’ve not been into card battle games.

But the more I looked into it, the more it was calling me to give it a chance.

I do like strategy games, very much, and that was the only reason I bought NCB.

My review? This game is very kewl! It is very rich with strategy!

Also, if you like Anime, this game oozes Japaneese. Not the best anime but it is there. Bad voice acting and everything and the graphics are so-so.

But the gameplay is what makes NCB a good game. It goes beyond chess and then some!

NCB has made me wonder what other card battle games are worth getting.

Give NCB a chance and you might be surprised! I was! :)

Thats my review! Until next time,,,,, BLLAAAAHHHH!

I bought this took set mostly for the tri-wing driver so I could open my Nintendo Wii and replace the disc drive. The quality of tri-wing driver isn’t the greatest. I was afraid that I was going to strip the head of the screw driver itself. The tri-wing tip seems to be a little small for some of the screws and slid and strip some of the screws a little. The drives tip also looks slightly damaged after the ordeal.

It is hard to find a long narrow tri-wing driver that is good quality. I was hoping that this one would be better than it was, but it did the job. Just take it slow.

The little boxes where nice for sorting and storing the screws while working.

  • Comment by Huntley

I bought this set to repair games and Nintendo’s portable systems. I haven’t used all of the bits but the overall quality is much better than I could have hoped for. The tri-wing is nice and solid and works wonderfully for taking various items apart. Most of the bits are magnetized so screws are a little bit harder to lose.

A nice bonus is the spring-loaded screw tray. The compartments are easy to open and the sheer number make sorting screws easy for your more complicated endeavors.

Although I don’t play this one so much anymore, but back in the day couldn’t put it down. Starting my own Career as a Heavyweight and seeing how far I could go was great. This game has a good all around playing style and the only improvements to be made are being able to keep more than one career fighter up and running.
If you are looking for action with blood and great slow motion Knockouts then this game is for you! I guarantee a great time. This is also perfect for those long train rides or in the back seat of the car for a long trip!

  • Comment by Keelin

This game have very good boxers but it is very easy, you will continuining fighting with the same guys and just have to beat them with the haymaker. I just used that game for 1 month and replace it with buying a new one. If you want a boxing one, just for your collection, then i recommend you, it has the faces of legends in boxing.

  • Comment by Jolly

I have played many boxing games. You must play this to see. I feel like I am in the ring. Just buy it and see.

  • Comment by Andersen

easy to get fighting right away. havent done much yet just building my guy up as fast as i can.

  • Comment by Nickson

Fun and engaging game. I wish it was a bit longer to play. Bonus features are great.

  • Comment by Bidwell

I found this to be a fun little diversion. It’s more a who dunnit with by selecting the statements or evidence to present through the case. Naturally all done in the usual Harvey Birdman humor, which if you do not already appreciate, don’t bother with this game. It’s chock full of double and triple innuendo, and other offbeat humor that I really get into. Alright, bottom line is if you laugh at fart jokes and other similar humor you’ll snicker quietly to yourself here too.
