I am very old school when it comes to games and it had been years since I’d seen the crash game and decided to go for it now that I got a PS3. Great fun. If you’re looking for great visuals in a 40+ inch screen and HD quality then this is definitely not for you. This is a game that is over a decade old in release and it will not look as good on a big screen as the new games. If you’re just looking for a game that is levels and progressive, then I’d suggest giving it a try. It’s great fun for unwinding… although there are definitely tricky places for you to get 100% for the whole game. I’m buying the second one soon… I might just be able to get to the newest games released in a couple of years :P .

The PS1 games for sale on PSN are not worth the $[...] being charged. While the game itself is decent, extremely pixellated graphics blown up to a 50″ HDTV are distractingly bad. Turning on the graphics filtering in the PS3 settings just makes it blurry *and* pixellated.

If you are a hardcore fan and want to play a PS1 game, install Linux as an alternate OS on your PS3 and use an open source PS1 emulator such as PCSX ([...]). The open source emulators actually upscale the graphics (similar to the XBox360’s backward compatibility emulator), making the games look even better without sacrificing the original look and intention of the developer.

Once Sony improved their PS1 emulators to match the quality of the open source ones, it might be worth the $[...]. For now, install Linux and PCSX and go buy the original PS1 disc for $1-2.

This is a exact same version as originally released on the Playstation. I have always loved Crash Bandicoot and it never gets old playing it. It is just a clasic like Super Mario Mario Bros. It’s fairly cheap to download and you can even play it on your PSP via remote play. This is the first and original version and it has always been my favorite.

Like other PSone games available in the PlayStation Store, Spyro the Dragon is a direct port of the original for the first PlayStation. There are no improved graphics, no extra levels or characters, no trophies to be earned, nothing. It’s the game as it was in the late 90s and that’s it. At the price it’s at, it’s still a steal considering this is one of the few 3D platformers that still holds up to this day.

If you’ve never played Spyro, it’s pretty simple. Gnasty Gnorc got mad at the dragons when one called him ugly during a tv interview, and turned them into stone. Spyro was overlooked and it’s up to him to save everyone. You run around shooting fire, ramming enemies, flying around, collecting jewels, saving dragons and face the final boss. The gameplay’s very basic but fun. This is one of the last platformers that didn’t hold your hand through the whole game and force you into long tutorials on how to do things. The game’s easy to navigate and explore too. With no time limit, you can go at your own pace getting everything.

If the game sounds like it’s for kids, I guess it is, but I still enjoyed playing through it 7 years ago, and just this past week. For a game that came out in the first years of the PlayStation’s life, the graphics look pretty good still. And for parents who care about the ratings- there’s pretty much no violence here. When Spyro burns an enemy with fire, they hold their rear and then turn into a butterfly. ‘nothing they haven’t seen in cartoons.

So if you missed out on Spyro the first time around or are wondering if it’s worth your money, I say get it. It’s cheap and fun, and a heck of a lot better than the Spyro games that came out on every system after the PlayStation where they felt rushed and had glitches galore.

The game is just OK according to the review and experience playing with. That is what young children report as a feedback having it for a month.

This game was good but not great. The attacks are smooth and easy, but the cutscenes are a bit well off. Overall the game does not live up to the GOD OF WAR franchise. If your a big god of war fan then get it, but if not well don’t bother.

I just bought this game today expecting a fantastic game for anyone to enjoy. Not only did it end up being too easy but It was way too short of a game. I have played games twice as long from the PS2 that are 10x longer. Naming a couple would be Kingdom Hearts (on PS2) or Pangya Fantasy Golf (for the PSP.) (Long but both enjoyable games if your a fan of anime) Otherwise the game is nice graphics are crisp But game play is a tad on the too easy side. I would have given the game atleast a little more time on the gameplay atleast pushing out more hours . Otherwise if you want to play a short game you can finish this game in less than 5-6 hours. Otherwise don’t spend anymore then $15 on this if your expecting a long game. I will be taking this back to Gamestop and getting my refund. 3/5 Its a nice game but too short for me. DO NOT BUY THIS UNLESS YOUR OVER 18. There are topless women and even a minigame where Kratos has sex with two women in the game. (you don’t see it but still keep this game away from your kids if they aren’t the proper age for it.)

I like the God of War series. I really do. It’s fun playing as an angry gray greek killing and dismembering any and all who stand in my way. Bedding at least two beauties near the beginning of each adventure with rythm game precision. Smiting some god of something or other by the end of the game. Battling bosses ten times my size and winning, while looking totally awesome. Sure, Kratos has the acting chops of a tin can, what with his wide range of emotions including: angry, smoldering, raging, and smoldering with rage… But we’re not here to talk of Kratos’s skills as a thespian, we’re here to discuss his battle worthiness.
I was very happy when i had heard it was coming to the small system, but i was still worried. The PSP has fewer buttons than a PS2… which usually spells trouble for games ported from a bigger brother of a system. But then i heard it was being made by the same team that did Daxter, which is the best platformer on the PSP, so i had hope. And my trust was not misplaced.
The game controls excelently. Kratos still has many of the signature combos from his PS2 incarnation, so falling back into the groove of things was not all that difficult. And, by the end of the game, i actually preferred this control scheme to the PS2. My biggest gripewith God of War was the right analog dodge. I could never send Kratos bounding in the direction i wanted to, but i have no problem w/ the PSP. Sure, the shoulder buttons get a lot of your attention, but i liked being able to cast a magic attack with the press of a shoulder and face button.
Story wise, the game’s okay. Kratos’ biggest reveals have already been done on the bigger systems, but i do like how the game foreshadows a few things that you will come across in a later game.
The action has that special God of War flavor and the enemies you face all offer a challenge in their own way. Sure, not as many enemies appear at the same time on screen, but it’s okay when the game plays and looks like this. And, unlike the first two games, this one introduces a secondary weapon that’s actually effective and fun to use! Imagine that… By the end of the game, you come across a “boss battle” that makes you feel horrible, and you see why Kratos hates serving the Gods, what with all their manipulations and machinations.
Ultimately, if you like the series, then do yourself a favor and get this for your PSP. Many call it God of War lite, but i disagree. This game, while maybe not as challenging as it’s console brothers, is great and thrilling ride from start to end.
